Problem:
When scanning from your favorite scanner, the output images are black.
Cause:
It does not matter whether you are using HP, Canon, Lexmark, or whatever brand, you may be dealing with a simple dust on the Automatic Feeder or impurities on the scanner glass or worst a hardware problem on your scanner.
Troubleshoot:
As mentioned on the probable causes above, you need to make sure that everything is clean. If you are scanning from the ADF (Automatic document feeder) then make sure that the paper path is clear and clean. If you are scanning from the scanner glass then make sure the scanner glass is clean. Also make sure the scanner light is lit up when scanning! If there are no light on the scanner then You Have a hardware problem in there. I recommend calling your manufacturer for service options or an upgrade plan.
