HP OfficeJet L7780 Freezes When Connecting to Wireless Network

Here is the scenario, You are trying to connect your HP OfficeJet L7780 All in One printer on a wireless network. However, everytime you run the wireless setup wizard the printer freezes and would stop responding. All buttons in the front panel of the printer is non responsive.

Cause:

This issue had been very common for a while particularly with HP OfficeJet L7780 for quite a while. Affected units are units that were manufactures before June 2008. Currently, an update for the OJ L7780 firmware (released December 2008) is already available for download. Remember, it is very important to have an HP technician update your firmware for you, updating your printer’s firmware can permanently damage your printer if done incorrectly.

Solution:

The solution for this issue is setting the IP settings manually. Make sure you input correctly the following:

  • IP ADDRESS –> This must be unique. You must not have a duplicate IP Address on your network.
  • SUBNET MASK –> This can be obtained by going to command prompt and typing IPCONFIG.
  • DEFAULT GATEWAY –>

For detailed intructions refer to troubleshooting document provided by HP.
