Hello. Seems like the only time that I have encountered that error is when I have done Microsoft updates: In particular: Net Framework. For some reason that screws up the system into rendering that error.

Is there any way for these 2 programs to play nicely with each other?

I have found another work-around! This is VERY useful since I am not geared up for L_2 and L_3 uninstall and editing the registry and all that stuff.

I have MS Office 2003, and one of the additional dowloads available is (ta-DAH!!!) digital imaging! It does scanning and OCR, and if I need a .pdf I print to CutePDF, which is a free download.

Try " VUESCAN ". IT is a third-party scanning software that has PDF scanning and OCR. . It is Free and easy to install. It is compatible with most scanners, including your product.

I should have said, above, that the printer, copier and fax worked fine even with the "CUE Status Root" installation problem, but not the scanner, and "what I do" requires scanning documents and photos and, occasionally OCR of printed documents.

Now I need a workaround so that I can use the OCR (optical character recognition). I haven't been able to find a way to access that feature from "Scanners and Cameras."

I am running Windows XP, and the hardware-software worked fine until after a trip to the computer doctor because the OS was corrupted.

I got the "HP CUE Status Root" message when I was re-installing the HP L7680 All-in-One. I tried every tip that turned up on Google, but still couldn't get the scanner to function. Uninstalled/re-installed until I was frantic.

Work-around: Instead of going to Start > All Programs > HP > Solution Center (or using the desktop shortcut) > "Scan Document/Picture," go to Start > My Computer > Scanners and Cameras and double-click on the HP scanner. The Scanner Wizard will take it from there.
