I was on the fence for months before I finally decided to order my Kindle 2. I had been reading such mixed reviews about the device and about Amazon’s customer service that I simply could not decide about the purchase. This review is for all of those people, like me, that cannot decide if they need a Kindle 2 for themselves. Well, struggle with the decision no more and ORDER IT! I am so happy with my Kindle 2 and I look forward to reading it every single day. All of the problems that I was worried about are not problems at all. Downloading books is easy, the screen is NOT too dark, the font size is adjustable and the Kindle customer service support is terrific. I had a problem with my Kindle 2 and I was instantly connected with the most helpful representative. I did not have to wait on hold and the problem was solved in no time. I have made the highest recommendations of the Kindle 2 to my friends and family and will continue to do so in the future. I can say with absolute confidence, if you order your own Kindle 2 you will not be disappointed!!!

Wow! I have a Kindle 2, have had it for about two years. I’ve been having intermittent problems with the screen freezing and having it reboot on me, which was starting to get very irritating. This weekend, it entirely grayed out and would not start. Called Kindle support this morning, and they’re shipping out a brand new replacement UPS next day. Probably the best customer service I’ve ever experienced.

actually for the kindle 3 you can just hold the power button for 15seconds while it is being charged and that is enough to reset it. There is no removal of batteries or sth. But you have two wait for about two minutes after that until it automatically restarts

  • Kara

how do u know which version of the kindell you have? My son bought me one for Christmas 2010 and it is frozen and I cannot see where there is even a back!

I did removed the back of my Kindle 1 (though it would remove all the way since a metal piece is attached to the back) and there is absolutely no site of that dang button what is it supposed to look like? Is it that tiny silver circle it appears to look like a button but I tried pressing it and it doesn’t do anything. Its really frustrating me and the steps didn’t help me at all and the picture is a kindle 2 how is that supposed to help me? A kindle 1 has a different look than a kindle 2 you know. If someone can tell me how the button looks like then that would help me and I will very much appreciate it.

My kindle has frozen on the ‘empty battery’ page.
    It will not recharge.
I cannot reset by sliding and holding the on/off switch for 20 seconds.
Is there another reset button inside? In any case I cant see how I would get the back off.

I have a Kindle 3G, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 3G Works Globally, Graphite, 6″ Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology [Includes USB Cable for Charging.

It was bought in Aug 2011.

I would appreciate any help you can give me.

I have a kindle touch that I bought about 5 months ago and it has worked perfectly until today. It is frozen with an advertisement on the screen. I tried holding the power button for 30-40 seconds and noting happened. I also am pretty sure the battery is charged fine. Is there anything else I can do to get it to work properly????

The back cover and battery removal instructions listed on this page are bogus. You cannot remove the back cover or battery of any Kindle 1st or 2nd generation.
